LLet's make some waves together! These water-based group exercise classes are for anyone who likes to have fun! Working out in the water is low impact, safer on joints, full of hydrostatic resistance, and a surprising amount of cardiovascular training that targets your whole body. We'll work on muscle conditioning, core strengthening, balance stabilizing, bone density building, flexibility enhancing, chest & hip opening, all in the safety of the water.

Tuesdays 9AM Aqua Zumba is a party in the pool! Fun for all levels, this mainly moderate intensity class uses international music as well as songs you know, to deliver cardio followed by weight resistance training. Dance has been shown to improve focus, attention, and memory. Studies show it helps reduce stress, increase serotonin, and develop new neural connections, especially in regions involved in executive function, long-term memory, and spatial recognition. Because the moves are performed at a water tempo, you don't have to be a dancer to reap the benefits.
Wednesdays 9AM Aqua Challenge is perfect for people ready for a challenge and looking to work on their muscle endurance and cardiovascular fitness! It is aquatic interval training delivered in a variety of formats such as Bootcamp, Tabata, Circuit, HIIT, Kick Boxing, or Sports Splash. Although modifiable to your needs, this class tends to be higher intensity and has upbeat, popular music to get our muscles, especially our heart & lungs pumping.
Starting in July, Wednesdays 10AM Aqua Balance & Stretch is a gentle, low intensity yet challenging class! Slower, low impact movements aimed at increasing flexibility, mobility, and stability. Targeting movements to increase range of motion, stabilize the core, lengthen the spine, and stretch common tight muscles with splashes of yoga and tai chi. Tune up your joints and reduce risk of falling.
For all classes, please bring a pool noodle, towel, water to drink, and your smile!
Shalaine has been a fitness instructor for over 12 years, a master instructor with the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and a presenter at IDEA World, IDEA Personal Trainer’s Institute, APEX Asia, FIBO USA, NASM Optima, and Zumba conventions and cruises. She is a graduate of Cornell University, a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, is working towards a Masters in Exercise Science, and is writing a fitness book. She is an Aquatic Exercise Assn member and holds licenses from Silver Sneaker Splash, Aqua Zumba, SWET, and Arthritis Foundation Leader Program.
Classes are $5. Buy a 4-class card for $20 and be entered in a monthly raffle for a free class. In addition to cash, you may pay by PayPal/Venmo/Zelle to email@example.com (not shalainefit). New participants, please sign the waiver.
